Stantec provides multi-discipline advisory, engineering and delivery support for heat networks across the full lifecycle—from early opportunity identification and business case through design, procurement, delivery, commissioning and optimisation.

• Strategy and feasibility: heat mapping, energy masterplanning, option appraisal and outline feasibility/FEED.
• Techno-economic and commercial support: modelling, tariff/price sensitivity, risk and phasing, and outline business case development.
• Planning, consenting and environmental services: supporting planning submissions and environmental assessments.
• Engineering design: energy centres and low-carbon heat integration (e.g., EfW, wastewater/industrial waste heat, heat pumps), network hydraulics and pipework, electrical/ICA and civil/structural works.
• Procurement and delivery support: tender documentation, technical bid evaluation, contract/claims awareness, programme and cost management, and Owner’s Engineer/technical adviser roles.
• Construction, commissioning and handover: construction monitoring, quality assurance, commissioning support and performance testing.
• Operational support and optimisation: smart networks, performance improvement of existing networks, resilience, decarbonisation roadmaps and compliance support.

Rather than focusing on a single speciality, we have a strong track record in the design and delivery (EPCm) of industrial heat integration projects, alongside the design of complex water networks. We can also add significant value to operational systems and the development of smart heat networks by applying our experience from delivering the UK’s first large-scale smart water network—integrating 4,000+ live data streams and using a digital twin to improve monitoring, identify leaks and manage wider process issues.
